Before you book

Three things to plan before booking in Busan Seomyeon

Downtime is less about resting and more about your brows changing in appearance. Think about these first.

  1. 01

    Photos on your trip

Brows look darker for the first days. If you want lots of holiday photos, you might book towards the end of your stay.

  2. 02

    What is waiting at home

Flaking usually happens a few days to a week after treatment. Avoid booking right before an important photo shoot, trip or event, and leave room for healing and individual differences. If you have something straight after you return, tell us when you book.

  3. 03

    Sauna, pool or beach plans

Heavy sweating and long soaks are usually avoided straight after treatment. Fit jjimjilbang visits or a beach day in before your appointment.

Healing timeline

Microblading downtime: the typical healing timeline

The table below shows what is commonly seen after a brow tattoo. Your skin and the type of treatment affect how quickly things move. It is a guide, not a promise of how your brows will heal.

WhenWhat is commonWhat to do
Day 0 to a few daysColour looks darker with sharper edges; temporary redness or swelling is possibleDo not rub the area; start the aftercare you were given
A few days to about a weekLight flaking and itching may appearKeep hands clean and off your brows
After flakingColour can look faded or patchy for a whileDon't scratch or pick; let flakes fall off naturally
Around 2 weeksThe skin surface has often settledFresh and healed colour differ, so give it time
Over a few weeksColour gradually blends into the skin and settlesDiscuss the result or a touch-up after this

The graphic is a guide too. If something worries you, send a photo on WhatsApp, Instagram, KakaoTalk or LINE. If pain or swelling gets worse, or you notice heat or pus, see a doctor promptly.

Trip planning

Which day of your Busan trip should you book?

Most people go back to their hotel and carry on as normal after a brow tattoo. It still helps to plan where it sits in your trip.

  • Before your appointment: avoid heavy drinking and anything that irritates your skin, so it is calm on the day.
  • Flying home: flying or taking the ferry from the next day onwards is generally fine. Keep your hands clean and off your brows on the journey.
  • Makeup: skip makeup on the brows until the flaking has finished, and keep harsh cosmetics and exfoliating products off the treated area.
  • Sauna, jjimjilbang and hot springs: heavy sweat and steam are best avoided in the early stage of healing.
  • Swimming and the beach: schedule long swims before your appointment if you can.
  • A second visit: if you may want a touch-up, it is usually considered once the skin has settled, often several weeks later, so think about two trips.

Exactly how long to avoid each of these is in the written aftercare sheet you get at the studio, which also covers detailed care for each area. Share your itinerary when you book and we will tailor the advice.

FAQ

Downtime FAQ

Can I fly the day after treatment?

Generally, yes. Avoid touching your brows while travelling, and message us if anything concerns you.

When does flaking start?

Light flaking commonly appears from a few days to about a week after treatment, though it varies. Do not scratch or pick at it.

My brows look faded after flaking. Is that normal?

Colour often looks lighter or patchy for a while after flaking and then settles over a few weeks. Fresh colour and healed colour are not the same. If it still bothers you once settled, send us a photo.

When can I wear brow makeup again?

It is usually best to wait until flaking has finished. Your written aftercare instructions give the exact guidance.

Can I go to a jjimjilbang or sauna?

Heavy sweat and steam are best avoided straight after treatment. If you want to go, plan it before your appointment.

Will my brows swell?

Temporary redness or swelling can appear straight after treatment. Strong swelling is uncommon with brows, but it depends on your skin. If pain or swelling gets worse, or you notice heat or pus, see a doctor promptly.
